We are a small team of colleagues elected to create a direct connection with the statewide organization, the Illinois Education Association, as well as provide the necessary resources and supports as identified by the Region Council as a whole.
Barbara Bettis, Chair
This is Barbara’s ##rd year as an IEA member. In the past she has served as Region 24 Vice Chair and was elected Region Chair in 2021. As the Region Chair, Barbara is a member of the IEA Board of Directors and serves IEA members across the state as a delegate to the IEA Representative Assembly and the NEA Representative Assembly. She has taught in SD U-46 since yyyy, most recently in the role of MTSS Lead. At the local level, she has been a building representative, served on contractual committees, task forces, and is currently serving the role of president of the Elgin Teachers Association.

Jen Bury, Grass Roots Political Activist
This is Jen’s 21st year as an IEA member. She is currently serving as the Grassroots Political Activist for Region 24. Jen has also served as an IEA delegate at both the state and national level. At the local level, Jen teaches 6th grade and has served as her building’s head union representative for the past several years. She has also served on several committees at both the district and building level.
